Ecological footprints

According to calculations from the Global Footprint Network,  in 2015 it was in the first half of August we went into ecological debt, on a day known as Earth Overshoot Day the day of the year when mankind consumed everything the Earth can produce during one year. Rest of the year we were taking/consuming from the reserves of the earth.

Everything we do has an effect on the environment. The food we eat, the clothes we wear and the way we transport ourselves. Everything being produced effects the forests of the world, oceans, rivers, air, animals and plants. The more we produce and consume the bigger effect it will have. We tend to be more an more people on earth. The space for our individual ecological footprints gets smaller every day. Statistics from consumtion and pruduction show how much of the renewable ability is needed on earth in order to produce what we consume, and to absorb garbage. This we call the ecological footprints.

Worldwidefund-WWF report how the ecological footprints of mankind evelope and effects on the biosystem of the nature. Already 1987 we consumed more of the natures Resources then the nature could produce. Since then the overconsumtion has increased. 1995 the resources of the earth ended 21th of November and 2009 we had consumed 1.4 times more then nature managed to produce. The price we have to pay is that our earth lung, the rainforests around Amazonas, are diminishing, many types of fish in the ocean are gone, carbondioxide is increasing everywhere, and so is pollution.
All countries do not load the ecological system so hard. But the western world, including Sweden consumes the resources far more.EcologicalFootprintMap

Have you ever thought about how many services our mother Nature helps us with? Air-and water cleaning, fertilizing the crops, and much more. But we walk along like elephants in a chinashop. We leave everlasting footprints. Many places on earth they have to hire people to fertilize the appleflowers by hand because the bee’s have disappeard.

It´s rather peculiar that the discussion about leading our life more naturefriendly never really comes up to the surface. Why don´t we strive for creating a growth in nature instead of just economical? Why don´t we, the politicians, turn our aim towards ecological ruling? The ONLY real assets we have in this world is our Earh with its natural resources.? When will we realize that?

  1. I just moved over my blogg from MyOpera. It was possible to import in just a few clicks. This is the third time I have to change plattform. Hopefully WordPress will last a couple of years.
